Our Mission

Carpanatomy exists to make carpal anatomy and hand biomechanics accessible, accurate, and clinically relevant. We combine teaching, research, and practical application so that students and practitioners can build a solid foundation in wrist and hand structure.

We focus on the carpus because it is often under-taught relative to its clinical importance. Fractures, ligament injuries, and degenerative conditions in this region require a precise understanding of anatomy for diagnosis and management. Our materials are designed to close that gap.

Our Approach

We emphasise evidence-based content: our teaching and resources are aligned with current anatomical and biomechanical literature. We avoid oversimplification that can mislead in clinical settings, while keeping explanations clear enough for students at different levels.

We also stress the link between structure and function. Knowing the names and positions of the carpal bones is a start; understanding how they move, how they are stabilised, and how pathology manifests completes the picture. Our workshops and courses and resources are built around this principle.

Context

Carpanatomy is hosted under the Earl Haig initiative, with a focus on educational excellence and alignment with curriculum goals. Our work supports anatomy and healthcare education in Ontario and Canada, and we welcome collaboration with educators and institutions.
